NIGEL HARRISON: IMPRESSIONS OF THE RUTLAND OPEN: SUNDAY MAY 29th:
“I
think it is nearly too bad to race!” I think it is really, really close” shouted
back George at the start of race 1 He later pitch-poled as the gusts reached
force 7
(Races
report here)
John T, Alastair, Nigel, George, Justin
and Chris:--heroically completed fine races on Saturday in very strong (5-6 max
gust 7) winds, demonstrating oodles of skill in keeping the boats upright for
most of the time

I
have my GPS phone on board and it told me that we did 39.4 miles
of racing during the day, and my maximum speed was 19.7 mph
Great weekend, lovely South African meal
in the evening. Jolly good fun and bruises and aches and pains
all over It rained and winds dropped for Sunday
Rutland is a lovely place to sail. I am
definitely going next year and will remind you all to put it in
your diary
You missed a treat Happy
sailing Nigel
